Monday • April 24, 2023   |   8:00 pm 9:00 pm

Free – $20.00

All Longy students present full recitals as part of their education and ongoing evolution as artists. They are charged with thinking critically about what stories they tell, whose voices to amplify, and who’s in the room for their event while also considering how to use performance spaces in innovative ways and how to truly engage audiences and create interactive music experiences.

Gengyang Li is a student of Andrius Zlabys.

Program Notes:

This program includes the composers from three different time periods. Beethoven Piano Sonata No.12 in A flat Major, Op.26, consisting of four movements. The structure of sonata is unconventional in that the piece opens with a relatively slow movement in the format of theme and variations. Brahms combined the traditional classical techniques with the musical expressions of the Romantic style. In these pieces, the audience can feel Brahms own unique, concise, and simple harmony. Busoni recomposed very successfully from the Bach’s original Chaconne for violin. In this piece, the variations are attractive.
