Longy’s Instrumental Studies department presents Orchestra IS
Looking to the past to create a present, a future.
Orchestra I.S. presents Recall, a program investigating the relationships between the lived experiences and the subsequent musical creations by composers. Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 4, inspired by his work as a student with Josef Haydn and Felix Mendelssohn’s Die Hebriden, written after an 1829 journey to the Scottish coast, will be paired with new pieces for orchestra by seven Longy composers. Join us at the Performance Hall at Somerville’s Arts at the Armory for this innovative program.
