Ensemble Uncaged presents their final spring semester program in a celebration of new & recent chamber music from around the world, from the Russian titan of modernism, Sofia Gubaidulina, to local composer, Marti Epstein, whose eponymous “Oil and Sugar” weaves lines of unparalleled complexity and beauty. Other highlights include the guitar music of Brazilian composer, Sérgio Assad, Valerie Coleman’s celebratory “Umoja” and Longy student composer, Sam LaGrego’s “Submerged in the River of Time” among other contemporary chamber music gems.

Longy’s premiere new music group, Ensemble Uncaged is dedicated to performing music by established composers as well as emerging and underrepresented voices, expressing multiple perspectives. We honor the familiar, invite the unknown, and challenge the conceptual limits of concert music in the 21st century.
