The Unitarian Universalist Church of Medford, MA, a congregation of approximately 100 members, seeks a part-time Music Director to lead music programming to enrich our weekly Sunday worship. We are a vibrant, welcoming community that appreciates music from a variety of traditions.
We are seeking a Music Director who is creative and an enthusiastic musician with choral and instrumental skills who can inspire and nurture our community through music. This position is for 20 hours per month from the second week of September to the third week of June. The salary is $7000-$8000 for the year. The position is immediately available.
The Music Director oversees the music program for all services, and provides in-person music for approximately 24 services during the church year (two or three services per month).
Other responsibilities include:
Leading our volunteer choir on most Sundays that the Music Director is present in person. The choir currently rehearses on Sunday mornings before our 11:00 am services.
Advising the Minister and worship leaders on hymn choices.
Coordinating musicians for occasional special music.
Attending monthly Worship Committee meetings, by zoom, and coordinating the Music Committee of volunteers to assist with the music program.
