María José Milano Melgarejo
Venezuelan flutist recently based in Boston, MA, she achieved Second Prize in the James Pappoutsakis Flute Competition and was also finalist of the International Flute Competition of Tocancipá, Colombia. Maria’s musical journey originated in Caracas, Venezuela, where she served as Assistant Principal Flute with the renowned Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra. Actively participating in masterclasses conducted by celebrated flutists such as, Jean Louis Beaumadier, Davide Formisano, Phillipe Bernold and James Strauss, among others. Her musical prowess has earned international acclaim, including performances with the prestigious National Children’s Orchestra of Venezuela under the esteemed direction of Sir Simon Rattle.
Throughout her career, Maria has showcased her talents on orchestra tours with the Francisco de Miranda Symphony Orchestra, captivating audiences across diverse regions including Curazao, Panama, Guatemala, the USA, Japan, and Ecuador.
Presently, she is finishing her Undergraduate Diploma from the Longy School of Music in Cambridge.
