The concept of this recital is to explore the many different facets of a person’s inner and outer world, or the multiple angles present in any situation. The inspiration arose when I was sitting a silent meditation retreat, and noticed that within one day or even one hour the terrain of my inner experience was vast, even when my outward experience was very mundane. All of the works presented have lyrical themes of duality, contrast, unexpected interpretation, and deepening layers. Poetically, they explore the nuance of a given state or situation, and ask listeners to consider what might be underneath the experience at face-value. Musically, the pieces presented create a body of work which is more than the sum of its parts. The various styles and genres work together to present a multi-faceted and multi-traditional artist, within the context a rich and versatile musical community.
