Jazz saxophonist Ornette Coleman’s work as improviser and composer introduced an entirely unique approach to navigating melody, harmony and rhythm that he called Harmolodics. The Harmolodic Ensemble explores compositional and improvisational concepts and techniques inspired by Ornette Coleman’s Harmolodic Theory. Following lectures explicating theoretical aspects of the material, students submit compositions demonstrating their understanding of the concepts involved.
