The New School of Music seeks an energetic, creative, and qualified candidate to co-direct children ages 7-14 years old in a 3-week, full-day, musical theater vacation program.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The ideal candidate will have a passion for theatre and education, and enjoy working with children in a dynamic and collaborative environment. Together, the co-directors are responsible for creating and implementing the class curriculum and program as a whole. The program incorporates singing, acting, and dancing plus simple prop and set design. Instructors will integrate into the program curriculum sessions on team-building, theater games, script-writing exercises, and improvisation.
COMPENSATION: $1,000 weekly stipend / $3,000 total
QUALIFICAITONS: A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field of Theater and/or Education is preferred with at least 2 years experience teaching school age children. Expertise in choreography & staging and/or in music direction is required*. Demonstrated experience implementing and creating musical theater curriculum/lesson plans required. The ideal candidate will have a passion for theater and education, and enjoy working with children in a dynamic and collaborative environment. In addition, the candidate must have proven time management and organizational skills along with excellent presentation and verbal communication skills.
*NSM is seeking a choreographer or music director; they will join the current Kids’ Cabaret co-director who is comfortable in either role.
