Alexis Peart is an arts producer, administrator, operatic mezzo-soprano, and music educator focused on inclusive opera performances, diversity in music, and cutting-edge programming. Alexis currently serves as the Executive Director of Boston Opera Collaborative, overseeing all program activities and creating opportunities for emerging operatic talents. She is also the Associate Creative Producer for Beth Morrison Projects’ new work, “The Slaying of Innocence,” focusing on BIPOC narratives within the carceral system.
Alexis has presented various DEIA-focused lectures and moderated discussions as a part of the 2020 Gender Equity in Music Conference and for graduate students at SUNY Oswego, Boston University, Longy School of Music, and SUNY Fredonia.
As a curriculum developer and teaching artist with Castle of Our Skins and D-Composed, Alexis has authored over 11 curriculum guides, including Castle of Our Skin’s curriculum guide to Anthony Davis’ X: The Life and Time of Malcolm X and 5 BIPOC centered curriculum modules to accompany D-Composed’s educational performance video initiatives.
Alexis maintains an active operatic singing and performing career, performing regularly in opera and concert with companies including Boston Lyric Opera, Chautauqua Opera Company, The Princeton Festival, Guerilla Opera, Wolf Trap Opera, and the Rochester Oratorio Society.
She has also worked closely with the Eastman School of Music, Boston University, Sigma Alpha Iota, Washington Concert Opera, and Thompson Street Opera Company on their DEIA practices and community engagement programming. Alexis is a New York State certified K-12 music teacher, teaching students throughout Rochester, NY, before relocating to Boston.
