This week, Longy honored its graduating students at its annual Grad Night, a heartwarming evening of reflection, friendship, and well-deserved celebration.
As students arrived at Pickman Hall, they mingled with friends and enjoyed sweet treats from the dessert buffet before taking their seats for the evening.
Throughout the night, the students heard words of inspiration from faculty members, Longy’s Multifaceted Career Speaker Series speakers, President Karen Zorn, Associate Dean of Admissions and Student Life Tyler Reece, and Dean Judy Bose.
In small groups, students were asked to consider how they have changed during their time at Longy, encapsulating two years of self-discovery, community, and artistic and personal transformation.
This contemplation was helpful for the next portion of the evening, as students revisited their artist statements, written during their first semester at Longy, with their peers. Discussing with their tablemates, graduates could revise these statements to more accurately reflect their current musical goals or share them aloud with the room.
The evening’s programming closed with one final champagne toast and a group photo of the class.
Before heading home, students picked up their regalia before Longy’s commencement ceremony. With just a week left until graduation, we want to congratulate the class of 2024 on their achievements and wish them the best wherever their music takes them!
