Longy School of Music of Bard College welcomes conductor, singer, and educator Reagan Paras to its Music Teacher Education faculty.
“There is an excitement amongst the faculty and students at Longy that is palpable. I do not doubt that our collective experiences and ideas will yield incredible and beautiful results,” said Paras. “It is this collaborative spirit and shared thinking that I am looking forward to most of all.”
In addition to his new role at Longy, Reagan Paras is an associate professor of music education at Berklee College of Music. Throughout the academic year, he instructs undergraduate and graduate students in advanced choral conducting, choral rehearsal techniques, choral literature, and conducts the Berklee Concert Chorus.
Paras has also directed performance tours across the United States and abroad. He serves as the artistic director for Many Voices:
Mechanics Hall’s Youth Singers, performing repertoire that authentically honors the mosaic of cultures represented in the ensemble. He is also music director for The Salisbury Singers, one of the premier choral ensembles in Massachusetts.
“I treasure working in environments that value entrepreneurship and forward thinking. We are not just making a difference in our community but enhancing and broadening what we do in our profession. This very work will allow our profession to thrive for generations to come,” said Paras.
An emerging researcher, Paras regularly presents at research symposiums across the United States. He is also a guest conductor, clinician, and adjudicator for various music festivals nationwide and director of the Kodály Music Institute Choir, comprised of music educators from across the globe.
Longy students can begin taking in-person courses with Reagan Paras this semester.
