Miriam Singer is the Assistant Head of School at Barnhart School in Arcadia, CA. She is also the founder and content curator of Edcouragementor, a new teacher support blog. She was an Education Pioneer Social Justice Fellow at City Year Los Angeles, where she created guided reading curriculum. She enjoys geeking out about anything curricularly or pedagogically related, and has a passion for effective and engaging instructional design and strategies. At Longy, she teaches Ed 523, a course on the Understanding by Design lesson planning framework and on teaching methodology. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her rambunctious twin children, baking sweets, walking her rescue dog, having living room dance parties with her husband, and reading science fiction novels.
