Music Director / Organist 03/05/2023-06/25/2023

The Weston United Methodist Church seeks a Director of Music / Organist, starting in March 2023. Music is an integral part of our worship service. The successful candidate must be an accomplished musician. Experience leading volunteer choirs or singing groups is preferred.

Responsibilities:
• Support the worship experience with musical accompaniment on organ and piano
• Select, with the assistance of the Pastor, the music to be used during Sunday worship for choir and congregational singing each week
• Rehearse and direct the volunteer adult choir, including Sunday morning rehearsals and performances
• Provide organ and/or piano accompaniment for congregational and choir singing
• Prepare and perform a prelude each Sunday as part of the worship service
• Select, direct and accompany special seasonal performances by the Adult Choir.

Approximately 3 hours on Sunday mornings, and 4 hours of preparation is assumed each week.

Ability to play multiple instruments a plus

Working to develop a youth and/or children’s choir is also possible, as an optional paid additional activity, if interest exists within the congregation.

A yearly contract is anticipated, with three weeks of leave each summer. Performance on Christmas Eve and Easter Sunday is assumed.
