Private Violin and Viola Lessons – Nashua, NH Public Schools

Position: Senior Strings Teaching Artist for Upbeat New Hampshire (UpbeatNewHampshire.org)

Site: Nashua, New Hampshire elementary schools and high school.

Status: Part-Time Pay: $57 per hour

Employment Period: Last week of September until the end of May for the 2022-23 school year.

Start Date: September 2022
Reports to: Program Director

Summary:
The String Teaching Artist’s main responsibility is to teach proper instrument technique to our Level 2 (beginner), Level 3 (intermediate), Level 4 (intermediate/advanced) string students. The position will work with our violin and viola musicians in semi-private lessons. The Strings Teaching Artist will be teaching semi-private lessons weekly during the school year, but not on school holidays or snow days. This position would be joining a team of teaching artists whose passions lie in building a stronger framework for student lives through the study of music.

Responsibilities:
Act as a role model for students
Consistently hold high standards for student musicians
Teach proper instrument technique
Prepare appropriate pieces for performance
Keep a record of student progress and fill out mid-year evaluations
Communicate student’s progress to parents/guardian
Keep a log of instrument assignments
Teach semi-private lessons weekly

Qualifications & Requirements:
Preferred: Bachelors degree in music with an emphasis on strings pedagogy/performance.
Will consider advanced collegiate students at a reduced salary range
Strong classroom management skills
Desire to work within a social change environment
Ability to interact and communicate clearly with a variety of ages (1st grade through Adults)
Self-starter
Punctual
Employment is contingent upon a background check
