Music Director, Part Time

St. Joseph Parish in Needham is seeking an experienced and faith-filled individual to serve as director of choral and instrumental activities for Sunday morning liturgies. This part-time position will recruit and lead members of the volunteer adult choir and youth ensemble / choir. The music director will be faithful to Catholic liturgical standards and foster a welcoming environment for parishioners to share their gifts and talents. An undergraduate or graduate degree in music is highly desirable as well as previous experience as a choir director.

• Selection of weekly music and submission of One License for streaming rights
• Coordination and scheduling of music ministry participants
• Directing weekly choir and youth choir / ensemble rehearsals
• Leading and conducting two weekly Masses
• Recruiting and auditioning new choir members
• Hiring of professional instrumentalists when needed
• Ensuring compliance with safety standards (CORI forms, etc.) for all participants in the music ministry
Hours: Part time, approximately seven hours per week with additional hours expected during Christmas, Lent and Holy Week

Reports to: Pastor of St. Joseph Parish

Schedule: Sunday morning Masses at 9:30 (family Mass) and 11:00 AM (adult choir)
Weekday or evening rehearsals
Additional liturgies during Christmas, Holy Week, and possibly other times
