Rachael Elliott | Zodiac Dust | EK Duo

Saturday, January 27, 2024   |   8:00 pm 9:00 pm

Free – $20.00
Longy’s performance are free and open to the public, but please register in advance.

The seminal indie-art group Clogs lives on through the work of two of its founding members: bassoonist Rachael Elliott (Longy faculty) and percussionist Thomas Kozumplik (Loop 243), who perform together as EK Duo. Their music lurks between-the-cracks of new music, improvisation and songwriting. It is loose-fitting music – some notated, some improvised. The result is a deeply personal sound that is entwined in friendship and represents the voice of each musician involved.

In this special concert at Longy, EK Duo is joined by pianist Jonathan Reddix and cellist Tyler James (Longy alum). The program features arrangements from the Clogs catalog by Padma Newsome and Thomas Kozumplik, including the eponymous “Zodiac Dust”, complemented by music from post-minimalist contemporaries of Clogs: HyeKyung Lee and David Lang, as well as one of the great founding influencers of the field, Philip Glass.
