Program note from Ziqian
This recital is a musical journey across languages, styles, and emotional landscapes. From the intimacy of German Lieder to the elegance of French mélodie, the romance of Italian bel canto, the warmth of English art song, and the cultural resonance of Chinese repertoire, each piece reflects a moment of growth, memory, or hope. As I complete my graduate studies and prepare to begin my DMA, this program is both a reflection of where I’ve been and a declaration of where I’m going — always guided by voice, story, and sincerity.

Ziqian Luo is a student of Sandra Piques Eddy.

Ziqian Luo is a Chinese mezzo-soprano currently pursuing her Master of Music in Vocal Performance at the Longy School of Music of Bard College. She received her Bachelor of Music degree from the Sichuan Conservatory of Music in China. Ziqian has performed in various operatic productions, vocal competitions, and interdisciplinary concerts, and her artistic interests often combine singing with storytelling, theatrical movement, and cultural dialogue.

She has recently been admitted to the Doctor of Musical Arts program in Vocal Performance at the University of Minnesota, where she will continue her exploration of voice as an emotional and expressive medium across languages and styles.
