Sarah Kiel, a native of the Boston area, is a modern and Baroque violinist dedicated to making the beautiful, rich history of music relevant to our modern world through performance and education. Sarah has had the wonderful privilege of holding leadership positions with various orchestras including The Concord Orchestra, the Harvard Baroque Chamber Orchestra, and Longy School of Music’s Orchestra FLEX. Some highlights include serving as concertmaster of Longy’s Orchestra FLEX for a performance of J.S. Bach’s Phoebus und Pan conducted by Ryan Turner and playing as a Baroque violinist in Longy faculty-members Pamela Dellal (mezzo-soprano) and Vivian Montgomery’s (harpsicord) Faculty Artist Recital at The Sanctuary in Maynard, MA. Sarah is currently completing her Double Master’s Degrees in Violin Performance and Historical Performance (Baroque Violin) at Longy School of Music of Bard College as the 2024-2025 Joshua and Amy Boger Scholar and as the 2022-2024 Margot Kittredge Memorial Scholar. Sarah’s pre-college studies included 5 years of violin performance studies and ensembles at the New England Conservatory Preparatory School in the teaching studios of Joshua Peckins, Julie McKenzie, and Aldo Abreu. Sarah was honored to be the recipient of the NEC Prep Early Music Department Award in 2018.
Kevin Lubin (he/they) is a composer, instrumentalist, and silly goose from New York and now living in Cambridge, Massachusetts. They have a degree in harpsichord performance and composition from Adelphi University, where their klezmer opera was premiered. Other compositional highlights include composing only the most serious pieces of music for toy piano, kazoo, and squeaky pig toys. Kevin is also the harpsichordist and viola da gamba player of Long-Island based baroque ensemble “Four and Twenty Strings.” In this role, they have curated riveting and educational concerts including those highlighting Jewish composers of the 17th century. On a typical day, Kevin can be found brewing multiple cups of coffee, singing in Yiddish, and scheduling more rehearsals than they have time for.
