All Longy students present full recitals as part of their education and ongoing evolution as artists. They are charged with thinking critically about what stories they tell, whose voices to amplify, and who’s in the room for their event while also considering how to use performance spaces in innovative ways and how to truly engage audiences and create interactive music experiences.

Program Notes
The recital titled “Condition of Love” explores the multifaceted experiences related to the theme of love, traversing through the stages of finding, being, and losing love. Each piece in this program encapsulates a different dimension of this universal human emotion.

The journey begins with compositions that reflect the excitement and anticipation of finding love, capturing the fluttering hearts and the thrill of new beginnings. As the recital progresses, we delve into the essence of being in love, portraying moments of intimacy, connection, and bliss through evocative melodies and harmonies.

However, love is not always permanent, and the program also delves into the poignant theme of losing love. The latter part of the recital explores the complexities of heartbreak, nostalgia, and resilience in the face of love’s departure. Each piece within this segment conveys a unique perspective on the emotional aftermath of losing a cherished connection.

“Condition of Love” invites listeners on an emotional journey through the various states of the heart, ultimately reflecting on the profound impact that love – in its discovery, presence, and absence – has on our lives. Through music, we celebrate the joy, depth, and vulnerability inherent in this universal human experience.

Jingyu Tian is a lyrical soprano who stands at the unique intersection of Eastern heritage and Western academia, Ms. Jingyu is a testament to the transformative power of embracing diversity in the realm of vocal performance.

In 2021 she joined an elite group of history’s singers when, as a doctor in Weidong Meng’s Youyo Luming, she made her professional operatic debut on the Ningbo stage. excelling in the most demanding heroines of the 19th-century bel canto repertoire as well as in the operas of Chinese national opera.

In Jingyu’s artistic journey, she strives not only for technical proficiency but also for continuous aesthetic exploration. she believes that as a musician, it is our primary social responsibility to convey beautiful works and sounds to our audiences. She is committed to using her voice as a vessel for artistic expression, evoking emotions and touching the hearts of those who listen.
