An artist’s journey follows no set path. Rarely direct, occasionally trying, always surprising, it requires trust in one’s purpose, even when the road seems headed the wrong way. In that process, though, magic happens: an artist steps into their power.
Performing with the Area 9 Saxophone Quartet, Seychelle Dunn-Corbin attempts to re-trace the steps of her artist’s journey, with all the requisite twists and turns. Performing works by composers from many different communities, she recounts experiences from her past, takes time to enjoy the present, and shares her hopes for the future. Because even when the way forward is murky, there is only way to learn what’s ahead: keep going.
