This exciting and unlikely pairing of Bach’s comedic Phoebus und Pan and Kallembach’s stunning new oratorio Antigone is a feast for the ears and eyes. This production, directed by R. Lee Kratzer and conducted by Ryan Turner, examines cycles of history and mythology that draw a line from the ancient to the present day. The double bill explores unexpected parallels between the two pieces, including themes of speaking truth to power, integrity, fate and free will, and how societies function in the aftermath of upheaval and disaster.

Content Warning: This production includes discussion and depiction of war and warfare, death of family members, references to World War II and the Holocaust, and other global conflicts, past and present.
