Eras of the Violin | Graduating Student Recital | Leah Froyd, violin

Violinist Leah Froyd hails from Denver, Colorado where she has earned recognition as a soloist, chamber musician and arts humanitarian. Ms. Froyd recently graduated from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music under the tutelage of renowned violinist, Ian Swensen. Trading coasts, Leah entered into the Master of Music Degree program at the Longy School of Music of Bard College as a Roman and Melanie Totenberg Scholar where she will be a teaching assistant to Paula Majerfeld.

Ms. Froyd has trained and volunteered in the El-Sistema Program in Denver’s inner city, assisting elementary school children who are culturally underserved and incorporating the musical methodology established by pedagogue and philanthropist, Simon Bolivar in Venezuela. Expanding upon her work with El-Sistema, Leah has been awarded a two-year fellowship from the Longy Conservatory to work with students in impoverished areas in the greater Boston metro area. In addition to her charitable work, Froyd has worked at Conservatory Connect, a partnering organization of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, (SFCM) as well as an intern for the illustrious New Century Chamber Orchestra directed by Daniel Hope.
Having worked extensively with the Telegraph Quartet, Leah honed her chamber music skills by performing internationally at the Rencontres Musicales de Noyers and the Nice Summer Music Academy in France. Nationally, Ms. Froyd has participated at the Castleman Quartet Program, LyricaFest, and the Lamont Academy of Denver University music festivals.

Leah currently serves as assistant Principal 2nd of the Lyrica Citizen’s Artist Orchestra as well as the organization’s newly appointed managing director, specializing in collaborations with the Boston Healthcare for the Homeless and other local shelters and teaches for the Albany Music School in Northern California.
