Echoes in the Soul, a vocal chamber music performance from 17th century Italy

Using a dizzying range of musical and vocal techniques, the Italian composers in the early Baroque were keen to explore all the corners of the human soul. From tenderness and wit to uncontrollable desire and anguish, this music penetrates the psyche in radical and thrilling ways. Solos and duets for voice and harpsichord by Barbara Strozzi, Claudio Monteverdi, Tarquinio Merula, Ercole Pasquini, and Girolamo Frescobaldi.
