Joseph Haydn’s Keyboard Sonata in A-flat Major, Hob. XVI:43 represents the elegance and wit of the Classical style. Composed during Haydn’s mature period, the sonata balances clarity of form with expressive lyricism. The outer movements sparkle with rhythmic vitality, while the slow movement offers refinement and intimacy.

Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Études-Tableaux, Op.39 No.1 and No.2 embody the dramatic intensity and emotional depth of late Romanticism. No.1 in C Minor is driven by relentless rhythmic momentum and dark harmonic color, creating an atmosphere of urgency and turbulence. In contrast, No.2 in A Minor unfolds with brooding lyricism and powerful climactic surges, revealing Rachmaninoff’s expansive pianistic writing and rich sonority.

An-lun Huang’s Two Preludes, Op.5 blend Western pianistic tradition with Chinese musical sensibility. The first prelude in C Major is lyrical and contemplative, while the second in C Minor carries a more dramatic and passionate character, highlighting expressive contrasts.

Alberto Ginastera’s Piano Sonata No.1, Op.22 is a landmark of twentieth-century piano repertoire. Combining percussive energy, rhythmic drive, and Argentine folk influences, the sonata explores both raw power and haunting lyricism, culminating in virtuosic brilliance.

Yuxin Wang is a pianist pursuing a degree in Piano Performance at the Longy School of Music of Bard College. His repertoire spans from the Classical era to contemporary works, with a particular interest in exploring diverse stylistic traditions and expressive contrasts.

He has received recognition in several international competitions, including Gold Prize at the Korea AiPAF International Piano Competition, Second Prize at the Krainev Moscow International Piano Competition, and Second Prize at the Bay Area International Youth Piano Competition. He was also awarded Fourth Prize in the Wuhan Conservatory of Music Scholarship Competition.

Yuxin has performed in solo recitals and collaborative settings across China and the United States. Through his performances, he seeks to balance structural clarity with emotional depth, bringing both precision and individuality to the stage.

In addition to solo performance, he is active in collaborative piano, working closely with instrumentalists and vocalists. He has served as a Piano Collaborative Teaching Assistant and frequently coaches chamber music and ensemble repertoire.
