SECOND STAGE: Yu Zhao, soprano | In Bloom | Graduating Student Project

Yu Zhao is a student of Carol Mastrodomenico.

Chinese soprano Yu Zhao is a vocalist dedicated to exploring connections between Western classical tradition and contemporary Chinese art song. She is currently pursuing a Master of Music in Vocal Performance at the Longy School of Music of Bard College. Zhao received her Bachelor of Music degree from the China Conservatory of Music, where she was awarded the First Prize Scholarship and received extensive training in vocal performance and music education.

As an active performer, Zhao has appeared in concerts, competitions, and collaborative productions in both China and the United States. Her repertoire spans Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and contemporary works, with a particular artistic focus on combining bel canto technique with Chinese poetic expression. She has received awards in multiple international competitions, including the British Best Classical Musician Competition and the Elizabeth Music Competition.

Zhao is also passionate about teaching and musical outreach, seeking to bring classical vocal music to broader and more diverse audiences through performance and education.
