Sunday, May 10, 2026   |   7:00 pm 8:30 pm

Yidan Ma is a student of Angela Gooch.

Featuring performances by
Yidan Ma, voice

For a long time in history, women’s voices were often ignored or pushed aside. But in stories, music, and memory, these voices have always been there, waiting to be heard.

This program brings together women from history and literature: queens, heroines, and characters from plays and poems. They share feelings of love, loss, fear, hope, and strength. Some voices are soft and unsure, some are full of pain, and some are calm and strong. Each one shows a different side of what it means to live, to feel, and to be heard.

Through music, these women become close to us. They are no longer just names from the past, but real people with thoughts and emotions. By listening to them, we are not only hearing their stories, but also giving space to voices that have too often been left unheard.

Born of the Mongolian ethnic minority in China, Yidan Ma’s music career began with cross-cultural music and Chinese art songs. Growing up in a region rich in ethnic cultural heritage, Yidan believes that music is the key to awakening shared emotions in the hearts of people from diverse cultural backgrounds and shows great interest in music from different cultural backgrounds. Throughout her young musical career, she has continuted to insist on performing cross-cultural music and brings the concept of cross-cultural fusion into her performance.

As a Western classical singer, she is passionate about oratorio, art song and contemporary opera Her stage experience includes: Don Giovanni (Zerlina) , Eastwick Witches ( Alex), The Beautiful Bridegroom (Madame Kirsten ), Meow and Forever (Asha ).
