This recital explores the many faces of women in love: they long, they surrender, they struggle—and are often misunderstood as fragile or dependent.
We acknowledge the delicacy of emotion and the weight that love carries in our lives. Yet we believe that neither defines nor confines us. Women are not an extension of love, nor are they bound by it.
Within feeling, there is voice; within love, there is freedom.
We express. We exist. We are free.
Praised for her expressive storytelling and crystalline diction, Qian Huang (b. 2002) is a classically trained soprano whose work bridges technical mastery and heartfelt communication. With five years of operatic training, she brings clarity and emotional depth to every performance, making classical music more engaging and accessible to diverse audiences.
Qian holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Musical Education from Zhejiang Normal University and is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Voice and Opera at the Longy School of Music of Bard College. In 2022, she won first prize at the International Vocal Open Competition in Jinhua, China. In 2023, she received the Best Actress title and Second Prize in the Psychological Drama Competition at Zhejiang Normal University. Most recently, she portrayed Leonora in Longy’s 2025 spring opera production of The Beautiful Bridegroom. Her repertoire includes works by Handel, Donizetti, Mozart, and Debussy.
Qian actively engaged in music education outreach during her undergraduate studies, teaching children in underprivileged areas for two consecutive semesters. She also completed a three-month teaching internship at a local high school, where she gained valuable experience in classroom instruction and vocal pedagogy. As an educator, Qian is committed to creating inclusive and nurturing environments for vocal students of all backgrounds. She integrates bel canto principles and somatic voicework into her lessons, focusing on healthy vocal technique, musical interpretation, and artistic individuality. With experience teaching both online and in-person, she has worked with students ranging from children to pre-professionals.
Driven by a passion for using music to uplift and connect, Qian hopes to inspire individuals with disabilities through her voice, creating performances that foster joy, understanding, and belonging.
