The legendary pianist was active in collaborating with his contemporary composers\, and this program features two of the composers with whom he had personal contact: Enrique Granados and Camille Saint-Saëns. \nIn honor of Miecio’s legacy\, Horszowski Trio pianist Rieko Aizawa brings her own period instrument\, a clavichord\, to Pickman Hall. She inherited the instrument from her teacher\, Peter Serkin\, who inherited that same clavichord from his and Rieko’s teacher\, Mieczysław Horszowski. As clavichord was Bach’s favorite instrument\, she will perform both a Bach piece and one of the newest compositions written for her most personal instrument. \nProgram: \n\n\n\nSONG OF THE BIRDS FOR CELLO AND PIANO\nCatalan Traditional Song Pablo Casals (1876-1973) \nMADRIGAL FOR CELLO AND PIANO (1915)\nEnrique Granados (1867-1916) \nSONATA FOR KEYBOARD AND VIOLIN IN C MAJOR\, K. 6\, OP. 1-1\n(1762-63)\nWolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791)\nAllegro\nAndante\nMenuets 1 & 2\nAllegretto \nSOLO XVII FOR CLAVICHORD (2020)\nKalevi Aho (b. 1949) \nPIANO TRIO IN A MINOR (1914)\nMaurice Ravel (1875-1937)\nModéré\nPantoum: Assez vif \nPassacaille: Très large \nFinale: Animé \n\n\n\n\n  \nPlease join us for a special Student Prelude Performance at 7:00pm. \nEnsemble-in-Residence[/vc_column_text][toggles style=”minimal”][toggle color=”Accent-Color” title=”read more”][vc_column_text]In-residence at Longy since 2016\, the Horszowski Trio works closely with student chamber music groups in coachings\, masterclasses\, and performances throughout the academic year. Jesse Mills\, Rieko Aizawa\, and new member Ole Akahoshi are also faculty artists in Longy’s violin\, piano\, and cello departments\, respectively. Many years of close friendship had created a deep trust between the players\, which in turn sparks exhilarating expressive freedom.[/vc_column_text][/toggle][/toggles][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” column_margin=”default” column_direction=”default” column_direction_tablet=”default” column_direction_phone=”default” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” row_border_radius=”none” row_border_radius_applies=”bg” overflow=”visible” disable_element=”yes” advanced_gradient_angle=”0″ overlay_strength=”0.3″ gradient_direction=”left_to_right” shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none” gradient_type=”default” shape_type=””][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_tablet=”inherit” column_padding_phone=”inherit” column_padding_position=”all” column_element_spacing=”default” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” column_link_target=”_self” column_position=”default” gradient_direction=”left_to_right” overlay_strength=”0.3″ width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” animation_type=”default” bg_image_animation=”none” border_type=”simple” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][nectar_btn size=”jumbo” open_new_tab=”true” button_style=”see-through-3d” color_override=”#cccccc” text=”PROGRAM”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
