Through the Reed is a musical journey shaped by breath, movement, and the evolving voice of the bassoon. This program brings together Baroque clarity, French Romantic lyricism, and modern color to explore how sound can tell stories across time. As I prepared this recital, I became increasingly drawn to the physical experience of playing—the weight shifts, gestures, and subtle motions that influence tone and phrasing. These pieces reflect that connection, revealing different sides of the instrument: its warmth, its agility, its humor, and its quiet introspection.
I invite you to listen not only to the melodies but also to the spaces between them—the moments where movement becomes sound, and sound becomes expression.
