SECOND STAGE: Qirun Sun, clarinet | Journey of the Clarinet | Graduating Student Project

Monday, May 11, 2026   |   7:00 pm 8:30 pm

Qirun Sun, clarinet

All Longy students present full recitals as part of their education and ongoing evolution as artists. They are charged with thinking critically about what stories they tell, whose voices to amplify, and who’s in the room for their event while also considering how to use performance spaces in innovative ways and how to truly engage audiences and create interactive music experiences

This program explores the expressive and technical range of the clarinet through works from different musical styles and periods. The selected repertoire highlights the clarinet’s lyrical qualities, virtuosity, and its collaborative role with the piano. Together, these pieces reflect both the instrument’s versatility and my artistic development during my studies at Longy School of Music.

Qirun Sun is a clarinetist pursuing a Graduate performance diploma at Longy School of Music of Bard College, studying with Jonathan Cohler.
