French accordionist Théo Ould has revitalized the accordion’s place on the concert stage: performing iconic piano works in a different light, commissioning bold new pieces, and crafting programs that transport audiences across continents and centuries.
For his forthcoming album and tour, Ould pays tribute to composer and bandoneonist Astor Piazzolla, pairing that composer’s works with his “obsessions” (Bach and Rameau), inspirations (Bartók, Villa-Lobos), contemporaries, and current-day composers inspired by the tango master.
