STUDIO STAGE: Alexa Connelly, soprano | My Heart is a Garden | Graduating Student Project

Sunday, October 11, 2026   |   3:00 pm 4:00 pm

“This recital is a reflection of growth and finding yourself again in the process of becoming. After a year of unexpected challenges with my voice and a lot of growth along the way, I’ve come to appreciate the joy of singing in a whole new way. Inspired by the patient and care of tending a garden this program explores joy, resilience, and new beginnings.”

Alexa Connelly is a student of Corrine Byrne.

Soprano Alexa Connelly, originally from New Hampshire, is known for her rich-toned lyricism and expressive artistry in opera, oratorio, and art song. She earned her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of New Hampshire, showcasing her talent as a soloist in Brahms Requiem and taking on lead roles as Suor Angelica in Suor Angelica, Belinda in Dido and Aeneas, and The Fence in Considering Matthew Shepard.

In 2023, Alexa celebrated a significant milestone by winning the UNH Aria and Concerto Competition, dazzling the audience with her rendition of “Ain’t It a Pretty Night?” alongside the UNH Wind Symphony. Her dedication and passion for music have earned her several Granite State and New England NATS awards. Currently she is pursuing her Masters at The Longy School of Music at Bard College where she has had the privilege to join Vox Exchange, a chamber ensemble working closely with the Grammy-nominated Lorelei Ensemble.

Studio Stage Series
Studio Stage is your chance to experience the thrill of discovery. Here, emerging artists take the stage to share their ideas, test their creativity, and invite you into their artistic journey. Each performance features Longy students presenting works in progress, a core part of their training and an expression of Longy’s academic and performance mission. These performances are alive with the energy and excitement of music in the making, and you get to be there as the next generation of musicians finds its voice.
