The (Episcopal) Church of the Redeemer in Chestnut Hill (Boston), MA is auditioning for a professional Bass Section Leader to start in September 2025 or at an agreeable time. The semi-professional choir consists of 8 section leaders and sings two Sunday services at 10am (9am – noon call) and 5pm (3:30pm – 6pm call) from Labor Day to mid May, and a reduced Sunday morning only schedule during the summer. It is preferred that the successful candidate will sing both services each Sunday, but this is not mandatory. The regular call fee is $150 ($300 per Sunday). There are also extra services during Holy Week and Christmas etc, occasional weddings and funerals, and concerts with solo opportunities (Duruflé Requiem and Handel’s Messiah this fall for example) with higher fees. There is no midweek rehearsal so choral experience and strong sight reading is important. Auditions will remain open until the position is filled.
