– CLOSED TO PUBLIC (Livestream available!) – The Multifaceted Career: Josh Kantor
Wednesday • March 11, 2020 | 12:00 pm
Longy School of Music of Bard College is proud to present The Multifaceted Career Speaker Series featuring conversations with musicians who defy categorization. As an essential component of Longy’s career coaching program, this series fosters an exploration of how we (re)define individual success in our diverse and growing field.
Since 2003, Josh Kantor has had his dream job, which is playing the organ for Boston Red Sox games at Fenway Park, where he was named Red Sox 2016 Employee of the Year, and where he takes song requests (and replies to feedback) via Twitter (@jtkantor) during games. He has played organ on ESPN and at Boston Symphony Hall on multiple occasions, and he spoke and performed last summer at a Smithsonian symposium on music’s role throughout baseball history. Josh has recorded music for TV, radio, films, plays, audio books, podcasts, web series, blogs, e-cards, weddings, funerals, and a snow globe. Since 2012, he has played on forty commercially-released CDs and performed with Eddie Vedder, the Decemberists, Aimee Mann, Joan Osborne, Death Cab for Cutie, and Wilco; with members of R.E.M., Blondie, Led Zeppelin, the Go-Go’s, Megadeth, and Boston; and with many many many others. By day, he works as a Special Collections assistant at the Harvard Music Library.
