Some Longy community members received the incredible news this week that their works were nominated for the 67th Annual GRAMMY Awards.

Longy faculty member and soprano Corrine Byrne was nominated for Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance as part of Lorelei Ensemble for their album Beaufort Scales.

“I was excited and very shocked to find out I was part of a GRAMMY-nominated album for the first time. I knew there were hundreds of recordings on the ballot for Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance, so my jaw dropped, and I thought, ‘Am I dreaming?’ when I found out Beaufort Scales was in the top five,” said Byrne.

Longy alum Kristine Caswelch (MM 23) was honored in the Best Choral Performance category for Handel: Israel in Egypt, an album she is featured on and recorded while attending Longy.

“One of the things I am so grateful for during my time at Longy was how supportive and encouraging the school was about allowing me to continue to take gigs during school. I was able to take all that I was learning at Longy and actively apply it to continue to advance my career, which included the opportunity to sing on this GRAMMY-nominated album, perform on SNL, and more,” reflected Caswelch.

Longy Ensemble-in-Residence Palaver Strings also received a nomination in the Best Classical Solo Vocal Album category for A Change is Gonna Come, an album that highlights the power of music, protest, and unity in dark times.

In a statement, the group shared, “In challenging times, we believe in the unifying power of music to bring people together, shine a light on social issues, and inspire change. Even if we don’t win, the nomination is a huge step for us.”

Longy congratulates these outstanding artists on their well-deserved recognition! See the full list of 2025 GRAMMY nominees here.
