Longy School of Music of Bard College is proud to present The Multifaceted Career Speaker Series which broadens personal narratives around success and inspires us to create our own diverse and multifaceted careers. Join the conversation with a musician who defines their vision of success and forges their own paths along the way. Explore the different ways these artists have connected their various passions to build their own careers. This series is offered as part of Longy’s Career Coaching Program. All speaking events are free and open to the public.

This TMC session will be in person only. Longy students are welcome to join at Edward M. Pickman Hall.

Victoria Garcia is a freelance trombonist based in the Boston/New England area. Besides performing, she is a certified Alexander Technique Teacher and fitness enthusiast. Victoria regularly subs with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Boston Pops, and Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra and served as Co-Principal Trombone for the Cabrillo Contemporary Music Festival in 2024. She has also performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra, Boston Lyric Opera, and Boston Ballet. Regionally, she plays with the Portland Symphony Orchestra, Boston Modern Orchestra Project (BMOP), and Odyssey Opera.

Her chamber experience includes being a former member of the all-female touring brass quintet Seraph Brass from 2021-2023 and a member of the Boston-based trombone quartet that won the International Trombone Association (ITA) Trombone Quartet Competition in June 2017. As a soloist, Victoria performed with the Pershing’s Own Army band at the American Trombone Workshop in 2023. She has traveled nationally and internationally, performing in festivals, giving masterclasses, and offering open discussions on being an entrepreneurial musician.

Victoria earned her Bachelor of Music degree from The Boston Conservatory in 2014 under John Faieta and her Master of Music degree in 2016 from the New England Conservatory of Music under Stephen Lange. In 2017, she received her Alexander Technique certification from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee under Debi Adams. Victoria is also a professor in the Alexander Technique Teacher Training Course at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
