Cailin Marcel Manson | Black Reflections | Faculty Debut Recital

Friday, October 4, 2024   |   7:00 pm 8:00 pm

Free – $20.00
Longy’s performance are free and open to the public, but please register in advance.

Baritone Cailin Marcel Manson and pianist Christina Wright-Ivanova present Black Reflections, a concert of three cycles of non-idiomatic Art Song by Black Composers: the Six Sorrow Songs by Samuel Coleridge-Taylor (texts of Christina Rossetti); Border Line by Robert Owens (a set of 16 vignettes to the poetry of Langston Hughes); and the Saracen Songs by Henry Thacker Burleigh (texts of Fred G. Bowles). In this recital, the performers invite you into these pieces as if it were an intimate concert in a home, relaxed and close, where the storytelling is rich and the emotions intense.
