biography

Lina Sarmiento, a mesmerizing lyric soprano originating from the small city of Barrancabermeja, Colombia, has been enraptured by her country’s rich cultural heritage from a young age. Surrounded by the lively rhythms of cumbias, mapalés, bambucos, guavinas and pasillos, she discovered her passion for music and performance. Introduced to the enchanting world of opera during her formative years in school, Lina’s soul became intertwined with the art form, driving her to pursue it with unwavering dedication.
Beyond her musical pursuits, Lina finds joy in various artistic endeavors, including theater, drawing, painting, and dance. She thrives in collaborative environments, relishing the opportunity to create and perform alongside fellow artists. Her professional success is rooted in her relentless pursuit of new forms of artistic expression, continuously seeking innovative ways to captivate audiences and convey emotive narratives on stage.
Graduating with distinction from EAFIT University in 2021, Lina further honed her craft by pursuing a Master’s degree at the esteemed LONGY School of Music of Bard College. Throughout her journey, she has graced the stages of renowned dance groups and the prestigious “Madriguera Teatro” theater troupe, while lending her sublime voice to esteemed choirs such as “Coro de Camara Cecilia Espinoza” and “Macondo.” With her boundless creativity and soulful artistry, Lina illuminates the realms of musical theater, oratorio, opera, and zarzuela, leaving audiences spellbound with each unforgettable performance.
