All Longy students present full recitals as part of their education and ongoing evolution as artists. They are charged with thinking critically about what stories they tell, whose voices to amplify, and who’s in the room for their event while also considering how to use performance spaces in innovative ways and how to truly engage audiences and create interactive music experiences.

This graduation recital is expected to be 1 hour 20 minutes long, with a total of 21 songs from different periods and different languages. The repertoire is composed of four languages: Italian, Spanish, English and Chinese. Arias and art songs are interspersed, hoping to make the audience feel the charm of different cultures.

Fengshou Huang, a classical opera vocal Basso Profondo, hails from the vibrant city of Fuzhou, Fujian. Born into a rich cultural city, he has emerged as a notable member of the Fujian Provincial Musicians Association, contributing significantly to the Fuzhou of classical vocal music.
Fengshou’s musical journey is a testament to his dedication and passion for the art. Armed with a Music Master’s degree, he honed his craft under the guidance of luminaries in the field. Professor Song Yi, the esteemed director of the Department of Fine Arts at the China Conservatory of Music, played a pivotal role in shaping Fengshou’s early musical foundation. Furthering his education, he studied under the mentorship of Dr. Christopher Sierra at the  Longy School of Music, enriching his artistic perspective.
Under the guidance of Barbara Frittoli, a renowned actress at the Milano Scala and the Metropolitan Opera House in New York, Fengshou gained valuable insights and refined his skills, establishing himself as a vocalist of exceptional merit.
Fengshou Huang’s journey to musical acclaim includes a notable achievement during his undergraduate studies—winning the third prize at the Citta di Urbania International Vocal Competition in Italy. This accomplishment underscored his exceptional vocal talent and marked the beginning of a promising career.
In the world of opera, Fengshou has graced the stage with memorable performances. His portrayal of the role of Cavalier Commendatore in “Don Giovanni” showcased his commanding presence and artistic finesse. Additionally, his involvement in the Chinese opera “Farewell to Cambridge,” where he portrayed Tagore, demonstrated his versatility in seamlessly navigating diverse cultural and artistic landscapes.
As a native of Fuzhou, Fengshou Huang continues to carry the rich musical heritage of his hometown on his journey through the realms of classical vocal artistry. His deep commitment to musical excellence, coupled with a profound understanding of cultural nuances, marks him as a notable figure in the world of classical music. As he continues to enchant audiences with his resonant voice and compelling performances, Fengshou remains a beacon of inspiration for aspiring Fuzhou local musicians and aficionados alike.
