Keyboardist and composer Dave Bryant is best known for his work as a member of Ornette Coleman’s Prime Time group. Bryant joined the band in 1990, touring worldwide and performing on Prime Time’s “Tone Dialing” CD. His most recent release under his own name was “Night Visitors” in 2020, which features the stellar rhythm section of Charnett Moffett and Gregg Bendian. Other credits include performances with Jamaaladeen Tacuma, Badal Roy, Bern Nix, G. Calvin Weston, Wadada Leo Smith, Leroy Jenkins, Ra-Kalam Bob Moses, and Eric Person. Bryant is currently producing and performing in the Third Thursdays concert series, sponsored by Appalachian Springs Foundation. The series features performances and interviews with fellow Ornette Coleman sidemen, as well as musicians from the Boston area. Videos of concert highlights and interviews are available at the Dave Bryant Music YouTube channel. He has also performed and lectured in Chicago, San Francisco, Paris, and Istanbul. Bryant lives in Cambridge MA, where he teaches at the Longy School of Music of Bard College.
