She is a wonderful female pianist and composer. She was the only female piano professor at the Paris Conservatoire in the 19th century. Many of her students graduated with first prizes and became professional performers. Her compositions for piano were also successful, admired by the likes of Robert Schumann. She began to try to write chamber music in the 1830s, and the work to be performed today was written by her in 1850.
