Longy’s performance are free and open to the public, but please register in advances. 

All Longy students present full recitals as part of their education and ongoing evolution as artists. They are charged with thinking critically about what stories they tell, whose voices to amplify, and who’s in the room for their event while also considering how to use performance spaces in innovative ways and how to truly engage audiences and create interactive music experiences.

biography

Narantsetseg J. Ren, a mezzo-soprano of Mongolian descent, is an emerging talent on the Opera Stage of the World. Her performances are deeply rooted in the belief in music as a healing art, a philosophy that shines through in her diverse performances. Narantsetseg’s repertoire spans Operas, Oratorios, Chamber Music, and Art Song Recitals as a soloist and as part of various ensembles. A recent highlight in her career was her debut at the Ukrainian Art Song Concert at the Royal Conservatory of Music, which earned high praise in reviews from Joseph So, Associate Editor of Opera Canada. Narantsetseg also portrayed the role of Mercury in Bach’s “Phoebus and Pan” (BWV 201) under the direction of Maestro Ryan Turner. In 2023, she expanded her operatic portfolio by performing as Flora in “La Traviata” and covering the role of Tisbe in “Cenerentola” at the Mediterranean Opera Festival in Sicily, showcasing her versatility and range.

Beyond the stage, Narantsetseg is a distinguished neuroscientist specializing in music cognition. Her research has been published in numerous top-tier academic journals, making her a renowned figure in the arts and sciences. Narantsetseg J. Ren’s journey is a unique blend of artistic excellence and scientific insight, making her a unique and influential presence in classical music.
