Divergent Premieres: Loadbang Round 1

This evening’s performance features the world premieres of eight new works written for loadbang by Divergent Studio participat composers. A New-York City based chamber ensemble comprised of Adrian Sandi (bass clarinet), Jeffrey Gavett (baritone voice) and Longy faculty members Andy Kozar (trumpets) and William Lang (trombone), they have been praised as “cultivated” by The New Yorker, “an extra-cool new music group” and “exhilarating” by the Baltimore Sun, “inventive” by the New York Times and regarded as a “formidable new-music force” by TimeOutNY. Rising to the acclaimed status as one of the premiere American new music ensembles loadbang has premiered more than 400 works since their founding in 2008. Pieces by composers Alexander Wu, Abigail Adams, Hsiu-Ping (Patrick) Wu, Antonio Sanz Escallón, Wei-Chia Wu, Tucker Johnson, Nicolás Aguía, and Calvin Hitchcock will be premiered.
