Seen/Unseen: Exquisite Drones

Sunday • May 9, 2021   |   3:00 pm

Conceived and performed by Wick Simmons, Exquisite Drones is a work for cello and electronics with music composed by inti figgis-vizueta, Conrad Tao, and Jack McGuire, after the drawing game “exquisite corpse,” and films by multimedia artist Laurie Olinder.  Wick turns the group-work of the game, first played by surrealist artists creating bizarre and intuitive drawings, into three compositions written in isolation by the composers, expressing their personal relationships to long-held tones with spaces of humming, growling, cacophony, and words that cease to mean anything.
