Sara Bielanski, Jazz and Contemporary Music - Voice

Sara Bielanski is an American vocalist whose repertoire encompasses everything from jazz to opera. She has been described as "an artist of great dexterity and versatility" (All About Jazz), "mystifying and beautiful"(artfuse.org), as well as "exceptional" (newburyportnews.com).

As a jazz musician, Sara has performed  and worked most notably with legends Sheila Jordan, Ra-Kalam Bob Moses, Rufus Reid, Jim McNeely, Tessa Souter, Stan Strickland, Steven Santoro, Peter Cassino, and had the distinct pleasure of studying improvisation with the late Charlie Banacos. She has sung at Boston and New York venues, most notably at the Regattabar, Ryles, Les Zygomates, the Boston Esplanade, Club OBERON, and in New York at the JP Morgan Penthouse. Bielanski is a founding member of the Boston-based musical improvisation group THE MELTDOWN INCENTIVE .

Bielanski's collaborations in the classical genre have most notably included Opera Boston, Tuscia Opera Festival in Rome, Boston Ballet, MetroWest Opera, Chorus Pro Musica, Commonwealth Opera, Wholetone Opera, Boston Modern Orchestra Project, and the Boston Pops Chorus.  Recording projects include a demo of opera choruses for BOSE, ensemble work with Boston Modern Orchestra Project, a Bob Dylan project for WICN radio, as well as her debut jazz album, FROM THE HEART (released in November 2016). Bielanski is a proud alum of the Longy School of Music of Bard College's Modern American Music program, as well as UMass Amherst. Additional studies include The Oberlin Conservatory of Music. 

In her spare time, Bielanski and her husband chase after 10 nieces, big and small, and are proudly owned by two exquisite Chihuahuas.
