Carley DeFranco, Sistema Side by Side
Carley DeFranco, commended for her “stunningly exquisite, soaring soprano”, "silvery smooth voice” (Melrose Free Press) and “warm, supple soprano”(Boston Musical Intelligencer), is a Boston-based soprano, teaching artist and choral conductor. She has conducted choirs of young, enthusiastic singers in Washington, DC (Capitol Hill Arts Workshop), Glasgow, UK (University of Glasgow Music Club Choir), and Greater Boston (Youth and Family Enrichment Services, Cambridge Rindge and Latin School). She is currently a Choral Teaching Artist with the Metropolitan Opera Guild and works with early-elementary students in Lawrence. Carley is also the choral director and voice teacher at Youth and Family Enrichment Services (YoFES) in Hyde Park, where she works with students and adults of all ages and experiences. Additionally, Carley has performed as a soprano soloist with numerous orchestras and opera companies internationally to critical acclaim. In Boston, she sings regularly with Emmanuel Music, Boston Opera Collaborative and the Cantata Singers. She is a graduate of the Longy School of Music (MM Vocal Performance: Legacy Prize, Janet Irving Scholarship), and the American University (BA Music: Evelyn Swarthout Hayes Award).
