
Upon graduation, Longy students join
the eminent ranks of an extended family of musical
alumni. Active as professionals in all aspects of the
music world - performance, composition, conducting,
arts administration, teaching, and instrument making
- Longy alumni are known for their solid musicianship
and compelling creativity. Broad-based skills in theory,
improvisation, pedagogy, and performance practice developed
at Longy have equipped them to be musical leaders and
working performers in an ever-competitive arts world.
Many alumni have risen to the top of their field, including
composer Elliott Carter, contralto Eunice Alberts,
pianist Anton Kuerti, and Robert Freeman, Dean of the
College of Fine Arts at the University of Texas at
Austin.
The curriculum at Longy also provides a strong foundation
for students who wish to continue their musical study
after receiving their Longy diploma or degree. Longy
alumni may be found pursuing graduate credentials at
distinguished colleges, universities, and conservatories
in the United States and throughout the world.
